If I could give this department a 0, I would. Officer Otis is very rude and disrespectful. As a wife of a police officer, I could not believe the amount of disrespect and nasty comments this officer spewed when we got caught in the speed trap of cottondale. If you're headed to the beach, avoid this town. The speed limit changes 4 times within a mile and the officers are extremely unprofessional.
The only reason I gave 1 star is the review would not let me give zero. Poor example of police officers. Everyone I have talked to in the Cottondale Police Dept is very rude. Was stopped for speeding...I know I was going 50 in a 45 but Office Otis said he got me doing 59. When I asked to see the radar he refused and said if I did not like it I could take him to court.
I wish there was an ability to leave a review for -10 . I was driving home from a beach trip with my PREGNANT wife and 8 year old daughter and apparently went through cottondale speed trap. The signs change from 45 to 55 to 65 all within a MILE . These poor excuse of law enforcement sit right past the 45 sign and don't even give you enough time to slow down or acknowledge that the speed has changed . As if that's excuse enough but my PREGNANT wife was having pains so I was in a hurry to get home as we live 4 hours away but still driving safe enough as I had my pregnant wife and child in the car. I was doing 60 because again I thought the speed was 55 . Not to mention I was keeping up with the flow of traffic and there were three other cars surrounding me . The officer came up to my vehicle and said license please , I gave it to him and asked him what the problem was and he ignored me and walked back to his vehicle. He came back 5 minutes or so later with a ticket and my license and said " I clocked you at 60 in a 45 slow down " then he handed me my paper and walked away. He did not give me a chance to talk . When I called this poor excuse of a police department a rude lady .... No not lady .... Women a rude women answered the phone and told me that the police doesn't have to talk or listen to me. When I told her I was keeping up with the flow of traffic she said " you were just one of the unfortunate ones" they know what they are doing and it's wrong! These are the police officers who have nothing better to do and are only out to meet their quotas!!! They live in a small city with nothing better to do. I have a friend who is in law enforcement and he shook his head when I told him. If the cop had just given me two minutes of his time I would have told him about my wife and a real cop would offer to escort us to a hospital because that's what a real police officer would have done. This cop was no better than a meter maid!
Sorry excuse for police officers I've ever met. Speed trap . Rude . Unprofessional. They should shut this busted run down police department down, better off without them.
This unlawful town gave my 70 year grandmother a ticket for speeding when the speed limit changes every tenth of a mile, it went from 55 to 45 and she was clocked at 56, unprofessional rentacops, have fun with your $200 bucks I hope it pays for you're wedding with your cousin
